Mark Millar ‘Prodigy’ Comic Series Created for Netflix

The Newest Mark Millar Netflix Series to be Released this December

Netflix is continuing to add to Millarworld arsenal with creator Mark Millar’s upcoming series, Prodigy. The series focuses on the world’s smartest and most successful businessman, Edison Crane, who grows bored with his perfect life and seeks new challenges.

Millar will team with Batman artist Rafael Albuquerque for new series, which will be his second title created since agreeing to the Netflix deal.

Netflix purchased Millar’s publishing company Millarworld last year, with the intent of creating new series and movies from his vast catalogue of successful comics. The Magic Order was published as Netflix’s first comic book and was the best-selling new comic book franchise in the past two decades. The first issue was published June 13, 2018. The first television shows were announced last month include Jupiter’s Legacy and American Jesus. The three movies announced include Empress, a sci-fi story about a queen in hiding from her dictator husband, and Huck, a man with supernatural abilities living in a quiet seaside town and Sharkey the Bounty Hunter, a sci-fi epic that will be published in comic book form before being adapted into a film.

According to Netflix, on Edison Crane:

“His brilliant mind needs constant challenge and so he’s become the go-to guy for governments around the world when a problem arises they just can’t handle. A Nobel-Prize winning scientist, a genius composer, an Olympic-level athlete and an expert in the occult, Edison Crane is as addicted to the mysteries of the world as he is to sitting at the top of the Fortune 500. These are the tales of the world’s most exceptional man and this story marks his first published adventure.”

“I wanted to write the smartest thing I’ve ever written and at the same time top any action set-pieces I’ve ever managed in the past and I honestly couldn’t be happier with how this has turned out,” said Millar in his familiar enthusiastic patois. “Edison Crane is by far the best character I’ve created in my career and I’m delighted that my genius friend Rafa Albuquerque is drawing the comic-book side of all this. He’s really one of the best artists in the world.”

Prodigy will be available in comic book stores and online on Dec. 5, 2018.
