What are the Hot Comics Releasing this Week?
The Batman Who Laughs: The Grim Knight #1
How do you make the coolest superhero even cooler? Give him the Punisher’s arsenal and let him loose. Both covers, by Jock and Gabriele Dell’Otto, are amazing. This is a stand-alone issue, but it wouldn’t shock me to see him again in the future, so the first appearance may be worth holding. Expect a decent print run on these, but you may still have to pay slightly above cover price on the secondary market.
The Goon #1
Eric Powell returns with his latest series that is hot on the secondary market. Definitely pick one up at cover price.
Amazing Spider-Man #17
I’m excited for the beginning of the “Hunted” arc. Kraven’s one of the most exciting Spider-Man villains and this has the makings of one of his best story lines. Plus, the regular Humberto Ramos cover is amazing.
Little Bird #1
I’m really stoked for this series. The Image Comics series, created by award winning movie writer, director and editor Darcy Van Poelgeest, has long-term staying power.
Red Hood: Outlaw #32
The new ‘Prince of Gotham’ arc looks to be a great jumping-on point if you’re a fan, but have fallen behind on the series.
Assassin Nation #1
The newest Image Comics series has a great creative team, Kyle Starks with Erica Henderson, behind it. The satirical action series has a really cool premise behind it too, with all the makings of a series with option-potential…
The Magnificent Ms. Marvel #1
Saladin Ahmed takes over the newest Ms. Marvel series.
Age of Conan Bêlit #1
I’ve never been a big Conan fan until the recent return to Marvel. This Sana Takeda cover is amazing, and thankfully she’s taking on the foreseeable regular cover for this series too.
Marvel Tales: Thor #1
I’m loving these anthology series’ Marvel’s been releasing. This Thor issue compiles some of the most prominent Thor stories by its biggest creators (Simonson, Lee, Kirby).
Supergirl #28 (Lau Variant)
Catwoman #9 (Lau Variant)
Marvels Annotated #2
Spawn Kills Everyone Too #4
Die #3 (2nd Printing)
Wonder Woman #66 (Kalvachev Variant)
Could be Cool
Age of X-Man: Apocalypse and the X-Tracts #1
I’m digging the Age of X-Man series and its tie-ins. The premise of Apocalypse and the X-Tracts seems kind of silly (Apocalypse teaches his people about love and romance), but will give it read.
Uncanny X-Men: Winter’s End #1
Are we really getting another Iceman storyline?
The Transformers #1
I normally don’t give much from IDW a chance outside of the TMNT, but the series does look to potentially have some appeal with the quality of the TMNT ongoing series.
Rick and Morty Presents Jerry #1
A new Rick and Morty series will appeal to R&M fans, but likely few others.
